Sustainability: the honest version

We are careful with the word “sustainable”. It gets used as a shortcut for a lot of things that are not fully true. Here is what we can say with confidence, and what we cannot.

What we can say

No mining. No extraction.
No opaque supply chain.

Lab-grown diamonds require no mining. No earth is moved. No communities are displaced. No supply chain stretches from a mine in a conflict-affected region to a polishing workshop with unverifiable labour conditions.

That is a meaningful difference. It is also verifiable.

Moissanite requires even less energy to produce than lab-grown diamond, and its silicon carbide composition requires no carbon extraction whatsoever.

What we won’t say

Claims we cannot back up
stay off this page

We won’t tell you lab-grown stones are “carbon neutral” without proof. We won’t tell you our packaging is “fully sustainable” until we can back that up with data. We won’t use the word “ethical” as a general claim. It is too broad and too easy to say without meaning anything.

The energy used in lab-grown diamond production is real. The packaging supply chain has a footprint. We are working on both, but we won’t claim progress we haven’t made.

“Saying less and meaning it is more honest than saying everything and proving nothing.”
What we are working on

Specific and verifiable.
Or not said at all.

We are actively looking at packaging materials, shipping partners, and energy sources as Brilliani grows. When we have something specific and verifiable to say, we will say it here, with the numbers to back it up.

The baseline

What we commit to now

  • Every stone is lab-grown. No mining, no extraction
  • Every stone is certified. GRA or IGI, independently verifiable
  • Pricing is honest. No inflated RRPs, no manufactured scarcity
  • We never make environmental claims we cannot substantiate
